Feel Uji
Through Rich Aroma And Flavor
Hojicha is a tea made by roasting sencha, bancha, or kukicha to bring out a toasty aroma. This roasted tea features a unique scent and a translucent amber color. Many of you may be surprised to learn that hojicha is actually a type of green tea, with unique features.
The flavor and aroma of hojicha are influenced by the roasting temperature, requiring advanced techniques for production. During the high-temperature roasting process, caffeine transforms from solid to gas, resulting in a less bitter and refreshing taste. Hojicha pairs well with a variety of foods and its gentle aroma provides a comforting sense of relaxation.

Hojicha = Relaxation
Unwind from the Day’s Fatigue and Stress
Compounds like "pyrazine" and "theanine" are known to help relax the brain. They assist in dilating blood vessels and improving blood flow, promoting relaxation for both the mind and body.
Japanese tea, especially hojicha, is rich in polyphenols called "catechins," which contribute to its characteristic bitterness and astringency. A key benefit of catechins is their antioxidant properties, helping to prevent cellular oxidation and potentially reducing the risk of aging, cancer, and lifestyle-related diseases.

Topkapi-En Niwayama
Meaning of the Name
We declare here that we develop a group of products called "Tokapi-En" and approach out toward outside Japan, symbolizing that it is a group of products that have been enhanced as a TOPKAPI group originated in Japan.
As of the original Japanese Kanji letters, the reason why it is not a "園 (En)" that is commonly used, but is a "苑 (En)" is that, to express our the intention of not limiting ourselves to grow nature plants only such as tea gardens, but also to declare to enjoy contemplating about Matcha and its related stories with all of us including our customers.
This Brand Name "Niwayama" is with a wish that people not only in Japan but all over the world can enjoy the traditional and impressive assets of Japan, such as Matcha tea fields with Gardens (庭:Niwa) stretching throughout the Mountains (山:Yama), symbolizing majestic nature and scenery, we created the Matcha brand "Niwayama" as the first product of Topkapi-En.
Developed as product No.2 alongside "Yamaniwa", this hojicha emits a powerful aroma that soothes and comforts, much like the scent that envelops you when taking a deep breath in a vast tea plantation (Gardens on Mountains). It captures the essence of Kyoto Uji tea.
